Beginning of spiritual awakening

How to start medicating? How do we go about the process of Spiritual awakening? What are the factors that aggravate this process?

Hey Priya! 😊

Spiritual awakening is such a beautiful journey, and I’m so glad you’re exploring it! 💫 There’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach, but here’s what really helped me when I started:

🌿 1. Meditation – The First Step
Meditation isn’t about shutting off your thoughts—it’s about observing them. Start small:

  • Find a quiet spot and just focus on your breath.
  • Try guided meditations or soothing mantra chanting (I personally love "Om Namah Shivaya" 💜).

✨ 2. Self-Reflection & Letting Go
Keeping a journal really helped me process emotions and understand myself better. Also, becoming more aware of thoughts—especially negative ones—makes a huge difference in this journey.

📚 3. Reading & Learning
I started with The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and wow, it changed so much for me! Other great reads are Autobiography of a Yogi and the Bhagavad Gita (even small verses can be so powerful).

🌸 4. Energy & Surroundings Matter
You’ll notice that the people and places around you affect your energy a lot. Spending time in nature, practicing gratitude, and avoiding negativity can really accelerate spiritual growth.

🍃 5. Diet & Lifestyle Shift
This surprised me, but eating lighter, fresh food actually made me feel more balanced and peaceful. Reducing caffeine and screen time before bed also helped me feel more in tune with myself.

🌙 6. Signs of Spiritual Awakening
Ever feel like you’re sensing things more deeply? Maybe experiencing vivid dreams, synchronicities, or feeling detached from materialism? These are all signs that your awareness is expanding!

🚧 What Can Block the Process?

  • Overthinking & impatience (trust me, I’ve been there!)
  • Holding onto past pain
  • Surrounding yourself with toxic energy

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Awakening isn’t about reaching a destination—it’s about embracing every step. 💕 Would love to hear about your experiences! Have you noticed any changes in how you feel lately?

Hello there!
1) I am trying this. Is name chanting and meditation the same thing or the best form of meditation is name chanting ?
2) Journaling is something that I did try but it wasn’t of great use. May be I was doing it the wrong way
3)I am tying to be consistent with reading Shree Bhagwan Gita.
4) Yes nature, water bodies and woods does calm and make my heart fill with gratitude
5) I am a vegetarian and eat clean but caffeine is something that I can’t give up on but I ll one day eventually
6) I feel things very deeply, I don’t have any vivid dreams and synchronicity. I am extremely grateful that I am not materialistic person innately. I am also very grateful because life in general tests me but the supreme power has my back always. I want to connect more, learn more and grow spirituality.

I am an over thinker but very patient.
I would appreciate if you or anyone here can guide me better or lead me to the stepping stones of spiritual awakening.
Thank you 🙏

I am not an expert, I just listed out what I do personally after gathering knowledge from different sources.

Also I am not a vegetarian, infact I eat meat with every single meal. My meal is not complete without it and honestly speaking I have met the most spiritual of people to later find out they eat meat regularly. Indian spirituality demands a certain type of diet but that doesnt work for me unfortunately.I just dont eat a lot of fat thats all include fruits and salads.

Oh okay. Not go disrespect you or anybody who eat meat. How can killing an organism who goes through cruelty and absolute negative emotions at the time of slaughter help people in spiritual awakening? Maybe I am too naive or my conditioning is very strong to understand this.

As long as this killing bit doesn't bother you it doesn't hinder in whatever spiritual goal you are working towards. Its a bit of a cultural thing really.
I do not know anyone in person who is a vegetarian.

As long as you are at peace its all good. The greatest of yogis that walked this Earth ate meat, some didint. Its not that important.

I am myself 100% vegetarian though and I feel good about it, one find day if I crave for a steak then I will go have a steak.

As long as you are moving forward in your spiritual journey thats all that matters.

Should read Swami Vivekananda.

How do we know that we are moving head in our spiritual journey?
What are dos and don’ts of this journey?

There are no do's and dont's. Whatever brings inner peace and inches you closer to the creator is good and what pulls you away is bad.

Stay away from negative people and don't get into arguments and keep your peace that's all really and practice.

Bhagavad Gita (4:34)

तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया ।
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिनः ॥

Mundaka Upanishad (1.2.12)

तद्विज्ञानार्थं स गुरुमेवाभिगच्छेत्
समित्पाणिः श्रोत्रियं ब्रह्मनिष्ठम् ॥

Though Ramana Maharishi had different ideas and didint think a Guru is needed.

This day and age is different though, finding a Guru who is capable enough is a task in itself.

The beginning of a spiritual awakening is often characterized by a shift in awareness. Your life may start to seem more meaningful, you may notice synchronicities, or you may feel disconnected from old habits and attachments. The desire for inner peace, truth, and purpose is usually present. The stage can be both confusing and transformative, as it leads to self-discovery, a higher level of consciousness, and a transformation of spirituality.
